Heartbreak

I wrote this poem for a poetry contest in high school. The poem surprisingly made it to the finals. I think we've all been here before and can relate.

Heartbreak

This is pain

This is hurt and you feel like crying

You wish it would rain

This is heartbreak and you feel like you’re dying

This is pain that you feel

This is hurt that you hate

But with all this heartbreak you learn to deal

You think this is your fate

This is pain that has disappeared

This is hurt that has been let go of

You hope this heartbreak doesn’t reappear

This is your heartbreak that has flown away like a dove
