The Knocking

I heard a knocking on my bedroom door.

I don't remember closing it.

My parents leave it open.

Knock Knock!

I heard the noise again.

What could it be?

A monster, a vampire, or a zombie come to eat my brains?

Knock Knock!

A skeleton, ghoul or goblin come to run amuck?

Or could it be a witch, ghost or devil come to cause mischief?

Knock Knock!

Maybe it's just my parents...

Maybe I should go see...

I get up,

Gaining the courage.

Tip toeing towards the door.

Being extra quiet,

When I reach the door.

With a satisfied sigh,

The loud

KNOCK KNOCK!

Is heard.

Causing me to run,

Back to the safety of my bed,

Dashing under the blankets.

Knock Knock!

I don't dare come out,

From my fortress

Of blankets and pillows.

Knock Knock!

Maybe they'll get bored and go away.

No one would sit there,

Knocking all night.

I think I heard a rattle.

Was that the door handle?

Squeak

Uh oh.

That was my door swinging open.

Something is in my room,

Scurrying around,

Shuffling across the floor.

Getting closer!

What am I going to do?

Something has grabbed my blanket.

I hold tight,

It's stronger than me.

The blanket is being pulled off.

Is this the end?

A cold clammy hand has me,

By the foot.

I'm scared to see what it is

Oh no it's...

THE END!
